It’s coming back!
It’s official: like a phoenix rising out of the ashes, Fergie’s Cafe will be back in 2019. Are you doing your happy dance? Because we are! Owners Jake and Jess Freese are excited to bring you Fergie’s Cafe v3.0! Construction starts Monday, October 15th, 2018.
Since the devastating fire in April that took away our beloved cafe, our hearts broke a little more every time we had to tell you Fergie’s is still closed. The support from our community in our loss has been overwhelming. No one is more excited than we are that we can bring back the breakfast and brunch experience you’ve been missing this summer. Remember all those good times? All that great food?? We do, and we’d love to see you (our extended family) back when we reopen!
What you can expect at the new Cafe
We know you loved our old Cafe because you’ve been telling us loud and clear (THANK YOU!!!) We would have preferred it to stay standing, but we’re taking this opportunity to build it better than before.
Don’t worry – what truly makes Fergie’s Cafe will stay the same. The food will still be locally sourced, locally inspired and locally devoured, and yes, it’s still going to be delicious (Chef Krissy is on the case!) The picnic tables on the lawn are staying too, and our staff will still welcome you like you’re family – because you are. What will change is the look of the building itself as we endeavour to make it as sustainable as we can.
“The new building will be very different but the spirit of Fergie’s will remain unchanged,” says Jess Freese, co-owner. “We can’t wait to see our community return to our door, and we are looking forward to giving back some of the love we have received over the last 6 months.”
Last year, we received a Gold Award from Green Tourism and we’ve grown attached to our title. Our commitment to environmental and social responsibility is stronger than ever. The fire has confirmed just how interconnected our amazing Squamish community is, and we want to do our part in preserving what brought us all here in the first place: the wonderful outdoors.
What you can expect over the next few months
As construction progresses, we’re going to have regular updates here, on our Fergie’s Cafe Facebook page and Instagram. We’re going to bring you an in-depth look at just how far we’ve gone to make the new Fergie’s building as green as we can, right here on our blog.
Construction crews are breaking ground on October 15th, 2018. The hole is getting dug and foundations are being poured while the weather holds out. If all goes according to plan, we’ll be ready to welcome you back by the end of May 2019.
Our riverside cabins will be open through some of the construction period but not all, as the noise and mess will simply be too much for us to ask of our guests. We ask for your patience through the process. Regular updates regarding availability will be posted here, as well as on our Sunwolf Facebook page and Instagram feed.
In the meantime, get those taste buds ready! Fergie’s Cafe will be coming back at long last.
